We are required by the Ministry of Education to make a statement regarding our health education and provide members of the school community adequate opportunity to comment on the draft statement. Below is our draft statement and we welcome any comments to garyl@vauxhall.school.nz.
Health Education units of learning at Vauxhall School have been designed to align with the school’s values, as well as the New Zealand Curriculum. Through learning in Health Education, students will be enabled to develop an understanding of wellbeing, as well as develop the school’s values of:
Whanaungataunga: by developing a sense of belonging to the Vauxhall School community.
Respect: by respecting ourselves, others and property.
Responsibility: by taking ownership of our learning and behaviour.
Resilience: by showing courage and perseverance.
Learning experiences in Health Education will be provided by teachers with some external support (eg Year 5 and 6 puberty education and NZ Police Keeping Ourselves Safe programme) and will take place within students’ usual safe and supportive classrooms.
